How to stand out as an event planner – create custom welcome gifts

As an event planner and lover of gift giving, gifting our clients has always been an important part of our systems. We think it is so important to show our clients how much we appreciate them entrusting us with their most special day. We wanted to give you some ideas of gifts that you could put together for your clients. We have also included details on when in the planning process we like to give certain gifts.

We love to give something custom to each of our couples. Lately we have been loving screen printed tees for our brides and bridesmaids as well as custom tote bags for the whole bridal party. We love to put a box together for the couple right when they hire CK. Our “Welcome to CK” box usually includes a custom t-shirt for the bride, a bottle of local wine for the couple to share, handmade bath salts, and an awesome assortment of local chocolates and candy. We take so much pride in making our couples feel loved by our team! The other custom gift that we send to all of our couples about 30 days before their event is personalized dessert forks. The forks are engraved with their wedding date and something cute like “husband & wife” or “Mrs. & Mrs.”. So many of our couples end up using these on their wedding day which feels like such a huge win for us!

I think it a personal preference thing when it comes to deciding at what point in the planning process you will gift your clients. We really love welcoming them to our team and then sending them a little something in that final month as a reminder that we are here and so excited to bring all of those final details together. We have our welcome gift box hand delivered and we ship our forks 30 days out. We enjoy catching our clients off guard and giving them the sweet surprise.

We think it is important to really take the time to get to know your couple. This makes gifting in a personal way so much easier. So really listen to them when they talk about what brought them together and what they enjoy doing as a couple. That will always spark great gift ideas. Whether it is a whole box full of goodies you know your client will love or just a small hand written thank you note at the end of the process, know that every little thought counts. Go the extra mile, you will never regret it, and it will leave a lasting impression on every couple.
